Log 18 – Asset Development

I re-opened the Market stall that had been previously started towards the end of last year, and began applying the placeholding textures for now, so that it could be placed within the scene to help bulk it out. I followed the same process as I had done with all the other assets.

I experimented with the textures to get the best look and feel, applying the ones the ones that I had previously made. This started with the use of the same wood grain material for the entire crate (Left) and then I tested with the wooden plank material (Right)

I can’t help but feel that the plank version helps to emphasise that it has gaps, whereas the grain gets a bit lost with that concept. I will export both nonetheless as the subtle difference will help to break up the repetition.
